Fire House #3 - 1217 Williamson Later replaced by the present building. This fire stations was built with a stamped tin sheathing to have the appearance of rusticated brick and stone. It was possibly the work of Gordon & Paunack, architects. Refer to the news photo of its demolition.

Marquette School, The old Marquette School, 1237 Williamson St Designed by Conover and Porter, architects, the first employers of a young Frank Lloyd Wright, the Sixth Ward School opened September, 1894. Architect Lew Porter's wife Carolyn was on the citizen's committee which selected the name in 1904, thus first establishing the reference for the Marquette Neighborhood name for the organization that came about in the late 1960s. The photo was provided by Anita Digney formerly of 1354 Williamson, in 1977. For a stunning photo of the Sixth Ward School in 1893, refer to page 219 of David Mollenhoff's book, Madison: A History of the Formative Years, University of Wisconsin Press, Madison, 2003.
