Ford Mansion - 1033 Spaight Street The John T. and Harriet Martin House, 1855. A high-styled Italianate house, built of buff colored sandstone, the last such house remaining in the neighborhood. Martin was a wealthy businessman who came from Cincinnati. With neighbor and partner S. D. Carpenter, he was publisher of the Madison Patriot. In the 1880s, the house was home to Reverend Francis Ford. At that time the house had an ornamental iron fence surrounding it's yard. The carport was built in the side yard in the 1964 construction of the Shorecrest East. 620 Ingersoll St. The George A. and Caroline Lougee house, designed by Claude and Starck, architects, built in 1907. With its broad overhanging eaves, horzontal expressions in trims, terrace and window grouping, the house is an excellent example of Prairie School style architecture. While not a copy, the house does reflect some of the patterns, including the leaded glass windows, of the Harley Bradley House in Kankakee, Illinois by Frank Lloyd Wright, built in 1900.
