Beckman, who worked as a draftsman for Northern Electrical Co. before beginning a career as an architect in 1910. At various times he worked as a carpenter, builder, and as a draftsman for Gisholt Machine Co.

1000 Spaight St. Wil-Mar & Immanuel Luthern Parking Lot. The site of the former Harvey School, later the Madison Lutheran School from 1945-1965. ( History) The building was similar in appearance to the Doty School on W. Wilson. It was designed by Claude and Starck, and demolished in June, 1973.

These brothers along with other family members owned and operated the Madison Candy Co. 744 Williamson Street. August Schwenn of 1315 Spaight Street was the builder/architect.
