The porch column capital features a boxy scroll-saw cut pattern reminiscent of those used by George Grant Elmslie, long the supervising draftsman Louis Sullivan's architectural office in Chicago. 939-941 Williamson Henry Foster Residence or William Drews Residence (WAHI# 115854). One of the oldest and rarest type of houses in the neighborhood, this red brick house was built for Henry L. Foster in 1853-1854. He was a produce and commission merchant whose business was located at the corner of E. Wilson nd W. Canal (S. Hancock) Streets.
