Johann Jacob Reiner House - 616 Williamson St The Reiners, the first Germans to arrive in Madison, the first to marry here, also had the first Christmas tree in Madison in 1948. The Reiner home was a portal to Madison for many Germans immigrating to the United States. Reiner was a partner in Reiner and Beerbaum, a blacksmith and wagon maker shop on the property. This Federal stepped-end gable style of house, a rare type in Madison, was demolished in the 1940s as part of a campaign of City building inspections, sometimes referred to as paint or demolish.
